Our Story

Patrick Gorman is the founder and creative force behind milford mushroom co, a venture born from his lifelong passion for plants and sustainable agriculture.

A graduate of the University of Vermont’s business school, Patrick’s love for growing things began unexpectedly when he enrolled in a Home & Garden Horticulture course. Working in the greenhouse, he became captivated by the process of nurturing plants—watching seeds sprout into thriving life and discovering the deep connection between nature and nourishment. This early fascination, combined with time spent helping his grandparents in their garden, planted the seeds for his future in agriculture.

After spending 15 years in the fast-paced world of Healthcare IT, Patrick felt an undeniable pull to return to what truly inspired him—learning, agriculture, creativity, and artistic expression. This passion led him to launch milford mushroom co, where he merges science and sustainability to cultivate high-quality, locally grown mushrooms.

Through milford mushroom co, Patrick brings his love for plants full circle, creating a business that not only provides fresh, nutrient-rich mushrooms but also fosters education and community engagement. His journey is a testament to the power of following one’s passion, proving that a meaningful and fulfilling life comes from pursuing what truly resonates at the core.

A wooden crate filled with an assortment of fresh mushrooms, including oyster and chanterelle varieties, is closely packed with sprigs of fresh rosemary. The crate is labeled with the word 'Turnips' and the background is blurred, giving the scene a rustic market feel.

I love the variety and quality of mushrooms! They elevate my dishes beautifully.

A wicker basket filled with freshly picked mushrooms sits on lush green grass. The mushrooms have white caps with some showing the dark brown gills underneath, and a bit of soil clings to their stems.
